Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come along and see training in progress?

If the training is at the Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre the answer is yes. This is open from mid Oct to mid March.
If you want to come along in winter, you must contact our Head Coach Pat Wheeler on 0423 520 633 to discuss the steps you need to take before you can join.

Are there any particular conditions on training at the army pool?

All swimmers must be members of the Onkaparinga Swimming Club and have provided all the necessary paperwork before entering the Army base.  While very freindly / helpful the Security Guards at the gate will check you have identification before you are admitted to the base.

How will my child be inducted into the club. Will he / she be expected to be an accomplished swimmer?

It is recommended that new members first speak with the Head Coach and discuss the squad your child will start in.

Do you have a learn to swim program?

Yes. However it is best to discuss your childs needs and where they are up to with the lessons they have been attending.  We do offer limited positions in what we call our Transition Squad which is made up of children who are learning basic drills and being given stroke correction.

Does the learn to swim program have a teacher in the water with the swimmers?

Yes. We have a coach who stays in the pool with the children.  It is recommended that you speak with Pat to ensure that the learn to swim lesson will be available as some weeks coaching may be from the pool deck.

Can we start any time in the year?

The answer is yes.  However the necessary paper work must be filled in and supplied a certificate of fitness and  the membership  fee.  Please read the details regarding training fees.

What are the training fees?

Fees can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually. They equate to $50 per month during the winter months and $65 per month during the summer months when paying monthly.

In addition to this, when swimming at the Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre there is an entry fee set by the Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre yearly.
